Gonul
Paksoy, a chemist with a Ph.D. in natural dyes,
is an exceptional designer and collector of textiles
who blends patterned and textural elements of the
old with the new. She began dyeing raw silk,
linen and cotton fabrics with vegetal dyes and
transforming them into clothes. Designs in her
characteristic colors are inspired by the garments
of Sufi Dervishes and each is a functional work
of art.
Dr. Paksoy has generously offered to open her
already planned exhibition to coincide with the
ICOC. All registered participants and companions
are invited to the opening of this wonderful Exhibition
of Textiles at a unique location in a converted
underground cistern at the University of Kadir
Has on 18th of April, which has now reopened as
a Museum.
