Especially
organized for the 11th ICOC, a total of 759 antique
carpets, kilims, textiles and costumes will be on
view at no charge for conference registrants, making
this ICOC event the largest display of important
woven art in its 30-year history.
MUSEUM OF TURKISH AND ISLAMIC ART (T.I.E.M.)
118 carpets will be displayed during this exhibition,
including nine central Anatolian carpets from
the Seljuk period and an Ottoman Palace prayer
rug. Also shown will be seventy-eight village
and court carpets from the 15th, 16th and 17th
centuries from all Anatolian regions and twelve
Anatolian rugs from the 18th century and early
19th century. There are eleven Caucasian carpets
from the 17th century and six Safavid Persian
carpets from the 16th and 17th century.
TOPKAPI PALACE MUSEUM
92 items will be exhibited, including sixteen
silk prayer textiles from the Chios Island region
and eighteen Turkish prayer rugs in pile, textile
and embroidery. There are eleven embroidered bohça
(wrapping cloths), thirty silk catmas, five silk
embroidered Ottoman panels, eight Indian Mughal
silk velvet kemhas and four Moroccan textiles
THE VAKIFLAR KILIM MUSEUM
54 kilims from the 17th and 18th century will
be shown, including three Ottoman Palace kilims
and fifty-one kilims from eastern, central and
western Anatolia.
THE VAKIFLAR CARPET MUSEUM
53 carpets will be exhibited, including five
from the 13th and 14th century.
Also shown are twenty-six carpets from the 15th
and 16th century, fifteen from the 17th century
and four from the 18th and 19th century. A Safavid
Persian carpet from the 17th century and two 17th
century Caucasian carpets will be displayed.
PRIVATE COLLECTIONS EXHIBITION AT TOPHANE
176 pieces will be exhibited, including twenty
Anatolian carpets, sixty kilims
and seventy-seven yastiks. There will be several
Ottoman Folk Costumes,
17th century Ottoman embroideries, catmas and
a suzani.
SADBERK HANIM MUSEUM
24 early Ottoman catma textiles and catma yastiks
will be exhibited.
JOSEPHINE POWELL EXHIBITION AT DARPHANE
90 items will be shown, including forty 18th
century kilims and fifty 18th and 19th century
cuvals from eastern, central and western Anatolian
regions.
IKAT COATS AT THE MUSEUM OF TURKISH AND
ISLAMIC ART GALLERY
60 ikat chapans made in the 18th and 19th century
from Uzbekistan and Tadjikistan. From the private
